8.30am - 10am on 12th October - Everyman Cinema York

Breaking Free is the first in a series of short talks from Tribe York – the new business incubator space.

Thinking of starting a new business or just broken free? We have 3 amazing Talks by people that have broken free and want to tell you all about the mistakes they have made, the experiences they have had and their top tips for starting up.

The talks invite local business experts and leaders to deliver short, 10 minute presentations on a topic relevant to starting out, surviving, or growing your business.

In this first session Prince’s Trust mentor and experienced businesswoman Melanie Kay will help you navigate through your first 30 days in business, alerting you to nasty surprises that can catch the new business person out.

Toby Marks, with a decade of global brand management under his belt, will ask you to think about your brand, who you are, why you’re doing this, and how to build a recognisable brand.

Finally, local businesswoman Sarah Lakin, owner of Fossgate Social and the new Micklegate Social, is going to talk to us about the mistakes she’s made over the years, some of the pitfalls to look out for, and how to not only survive, but thrive in York.

We’re mega-excited about this first event and the line up of incredible speakers we’ve got for you.

Future talks will explore websites and social media, accountancy, influencing, networking, legal issues, building a customer base, growth and expansion, and finance and fundraising.
